Kgalagadi Desert Safari – 6 Days
Explore the magical Kgalagadi with a 6-day desert safari, viewing the fauna and flora that call this place home. You’ll get to explore the solitude of the location, basking in the ambience created by the numerous, fascinating wildlife species that make the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park one of the most spectacular spots on earth.
Your first 3 days will be spent at Rooiputs, located about 25km north of Two Rivers, caressing the Nossob River Valley. With the backdrop of a red sand dune, this promises stunning vistas of the acacia savannah and its grassy plains. Nearby, a waterhole attracts the area’s lions who come by for a drink and a few opportunities. The dry riverbeds offer those thrilling photographic moments, with a recorded sixty species of mammals exhibiting their majesty and glory.
Your next 3 days are spent at Polentswa, 222km away from the Two Rivers, on the Botswana side of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Camped amongst tall trees and dwarf scrubs, feast your eyes as you overlook the Polentswa Pan and its waterhole.
Enjoy a more rustic, classic, tented camp experience for this leg of the safari. Here, at the Nossob riverbed, you’ve got one of Southern Africa’s ideal vantage points to view raptors, including eagles, kites, and falcons! On the ground, you’ll have the chance to encounter the black maned Kgalagadi lions, as well as leopard, cheetah, brown and spotted hyena, jackal, and wildcat.
