Potato Bush Camp
The luxurious and exclusive Potato Bush Camp occupies a pristine site within the Lower Zambezi National Park that lies on the north bank of the Zambezi in south eastern Zambia. The camp lies adjacent to its sister camp, the legendary Sausage Tree Camp, and mirrors its elegance in the subtle contemporary African design that the camp reflects.
The camp is truly one-of-a-kind with breath-taking panoramic views overlooking the grand Zambezi River and the escarpment. Guests can enjoy a stay in one of the three spacious canvas and rosewood safari tents or book the two bedroom, 21m wide Family House for the ultimate safari indulgence. Tenting has never been so decadent with Potato Bush Camp’s accommodation equipped with luxury en-suite bathrooms furnished with four-claw bath tubs with a view, private crystal plunge pools, personal dining areas, and hammocks.
It’s not all just glorious design, with a wide variety of activities on offer from game drives, guided safari walks, boat cruises, birding, canoeing, and of course tiger fishing. Anglers have access to over 30km of remote Zambezi populated with a range of bream and trophy tiger fish (the camp’s record tiger fish weighed in at 11.3 kgs). Fishing is best during the warmer months from September to December, however, the camp is open from the 1st of April through to early January. The camp hosts their annual tiger fishing safaris in October.
Wildlife roam free in the park with a high density of elephants, buffalo, hippo, lion, leopard, and general game. Rarer sightings can be experienced on the camp’s night drives where nocturnal animals such as owls, leopards, genets, and civets can be spotted while the professional guide points to constellations and their legendary stories in the bright southern night sky. Wildlife converge on the banks of the river as the season gets drier from May onwards.
The entire camp is linked with timber walkways that crisscross between communal areas and rooms, leading to the riverside boma where guests can relax around a campfire at night. This intimate camp is perfect for unforgettable family and small group holidays.
The camp is accessible via a 35 minute flight from Lusaka to the Jeki airstrip. From here it’s an hour’s journey to the camp.
